Part of the Lebanon greater metropolitan area, Myerstown is named for Isaac Meier, the first settler of the town. Meier had wanted to name the town after nearby Tulpehocken Creek, one of the best trout streams in Pennsylvania. But after Meier's death, local residents chose to rename the town in his honor.
