Two questions we hear often about tankless water heaters are: Is a tankless water heating system right for my home<\/em>? and Will it really save me money?<\/em><\/p>\n

How does it do that? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Cold water runs through a pipe to the water heating unit. Either a gas or an electric element heats the water. No waiting for a storage tank to fill with enough hot water to deliver it to your location\u2026which means less water wasted at the tap!<\/p>\n

Another benefit of a tankless water heater is that you don\u2019t experience the energy losses associated with water that has been heated and is now cooling in a tank. This is known as a \u201cstandby energy loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

What are the benefits of a tankless water heater? Are there any downsides?<\/h2>\n

As with any energy-efficient product, there are pros and cons associated with a tankless water heater.<\/p>\n

Top benefits include virtually on-demand warm or hot water. Almost no waiting. No wasting water waiting for it to reach your desired temperature. No paying for utility costs associated with energy losses. And, with a tankless water heater, you can enjoy a virtually endless supply of hot water.<\/p>\n

Many tankless water heaters also have a life expectancy of 20+ years, and easy-to-replace parts can extend their lifespan.<\/p>\n

An important downside to consider is overall household demand. It\u2019s important to select a heater that is \u201cright sized\u201d for your home and needs. Some models are too small to handle multiple demands. An example would be taking a shower and running a load of laundry at the same time. There are large, whole-house units that can handle larger loads, but they often are much more expensive than regular hot water heaters of a similar capacity. Just make sure you are choosing wisely.<\/p>\n
